Victory Garden Initiative is a Milwaukee nonprofit based in the Harambee neighborhood that works to build communities that grow their own food to create a community-led, socially just, environmentally sustainable, nutritious food system for all. We do this work through our community programs and events which include:
The Great Milwaukee Victory Garden Blitz -- where we build raised garden beds across the city in people's yards and at schools, churches, and places of worship;
Youth Education Programs -- summer camp and after-school experience to introduce youth to the garden and kitchen and teach leadership skills;
Move Grass Classes -- Workshops for adults and families to foster deeper skills in gardening, cooking, nutrition, and wellness;
Urban Farm -- A 1.5 acre urban plot of land where we grow food for use in our programs and events, to make available to our neighbors through u-pick and farmstands, and as a demonstration site for urban sustainable food production;
Cultivate Harambee -- A variety of community focused events, from poetry slams to potlucks, at our Urban Farm Campus to bring our neighborhood of Harambee together in celebration and solidarity!
