Co-Pastor Nominating Committee

Ministry Information Form (MIF) Summary

Following WPC’s decision to add a co-pastor, the annual congregational meeting in January 2017 elected a Co-Pastor Nominating Committee consisting of Bill Benedek, Emma Hudson-Mairet, Sara Luke, Pam Parker, Renee Van Someren, Jim Halverson and Paul Bargren.  The committee met more than two dozen times, reviewed and investigated more than 160 resumes, listened to and viewed countless sample sermons and conducted interviews with the most promising applicants.

Through that process, the Committee was led to select a candidate:  Rev. Brett Swanson.  After Rev. Swanson met members on October 7 and preached at Sunday worship on October 8, 2017, the congregation approved him with an overwhelming show of support and without a single negative vote.  He joined WPC on November 27, 2017, and he and Rev. Jim Rand now serve as co-pastors in ministry.

As part of its work, the CPNC developed a Ministry Information Form (see link above), which still serves as good overview of this congregation and its mission.

Holy Cow!  The Congregational Survey

In 2016, WPC engaged the research firm Holy Cow! to survey the congregation.  The results were enlightening and – for a church like ours – remarkable.  The results continue to provide guidance as to who we are, where we want to be in the future, and the resources we have available to help take us there.
